FAIR GROUNDS NOTES Forty-three operators quoted prices in the ring during the afternoon. Jj. McDermott had his first mount at the meeting when he rode Howard Oots Des-pard in the third race. Six hundred and fifty-three horses have started at Jefferson Park and the Fair Grounds since Thanksgiving day. P. F. Fuller, who has a stable of horses quartered here, was among the arrivals Friday, to spend a few days enjoying the sport. T. M. Murphy, formerly owner of the Walueck Farm, near Louisville, Ky., was among the visitors and will remain for an indefinite period. S. A. Cowan corrected the report that H. G. AVoods had been replaced as trainer of his stable by T. F. Devereaux. Woods is still in charge of the Cowan horses. J. T. Looney, who has annually raced a stable of horses at the Fair Grounds, was an arrival from his home in Lexington to remain for an indefinite stay. T. F. Bornmann, trainer of the stable of Miss M. Kelly, has moved the racers belonging to that establishment over to the Fair Grounds from Jefferson Park. George E. Alexandra reported to the stewards that Servitor, carded to start in the fifth race, was suffering from an .attack of fever and requested that the horse be excused.
