WOODBINE FIXTURES Ontario Jockey Club Announces Array of Spring Stakes. 4 Distance of Famous Kings Plate Changed Values of Steeplechase Events Increased. TORONTO, Ont., Feb. 1. Secretary W. P. Frascr of the Ontario Jockey Club has announced the list of stake races to be decided at the spring meeting at Woodbine Park. The Kings Plate with a value of 0,000 added, including fifty guineas, the gift of his Majesty King George V. and the oldest fixture run continuously on the North American continent, heads the list. In this race it will be observed that the distance is one mile and an eighth instead of one mile and a quarter as formerly. This was decided upon by the directors of the Ontario Jockey Club early last year and duo notice given at the time. It is hoped that the shorter distance, due to the backwardness of the Canadian season, Avill benefit both owners and breeders. That the Ontario Jockey Club is doing its part in the promotion of high class racing in this vicinity is indicated in the announcement of the increased value of stake races. The "Woodbine Steeplechase, at two miles and a half, to be run on the closing day of the spring meeting, Saturday, May 24, carries an added money value of 0,000. The Breeders Stakes, to be run in 1925, has an increased stake value of ,000 added and tho distance has been reduced to one mile and a sixteenth. The Aintreo Steeplechase, to bo-run on the opening day, Saturday, May 17, has ,000 added. 2,000 STEEPLECHASE DAILY. These valuable steeplechases are only part of the usual fine steeplechase program. A steeplechase of not less than ,000 has been carded for each day of tho spring meeting, tho Minto Steeplechase, to be run Wednesday, May 21, having ,000 added and the Lion Heart Steeplechase, to be run Thursday, May 22, will have ,500 added. The conditions for the Maple Leaf Stakes with ,000 added which was formerly for three-year-old fillies, has been changed to include four-year-olds and now reads for threo and four-year-old Allies, to be run during the year 1925. Following is a list of the stakes which close for entries Friday, March 14: Kings Plate 50 guineas, the gift of his Majesty King George V. with 0,000 added by the club, one mile and an eighth, for three-year-olds and over, foaled, raised and trained in the Province of Ontario, to be run Saturday, May 17. UREEDEItS STAKES OF 1925. Breeders Stakes, for three-year-olds foalfd in the Dominion of Canada in 1922 and owned there at time of starting, one mile and a sixteenth, to be run during the year 1923 as the Ontario Jockey Club may direct, probably at the spring meeting. Maple Leaf Stakes, for three and four-year-old fillies foaled in the Dominion of Canada and owned there at time of starting, one mile and a sixteenth, to be run during the year 1925 as the Ontario Jockey Club may direct, probably at the autumn meeting. Stanley Produce Stakes, a sweepstakes for three-year-old foals of 1924, the Ontario Jockey Club to add 0,000 to the stakes, one mile and a quarter, to be run during the year 1927 as the Ontario Jockey Club may direct, probably at the autumn meeting. Woodbine Steeplechase, for four-year-olds and over, with 0,000 added, about two and a half miles, to be run Saturday. May 21. Aintree Steeplechase, for four-year-olds and over, with ,000 added, about two miles, to be run Saturday, May 17. The rules of racing of the Canadian Racing Associations govern all races run under the auspices of the Ontario Jockey Club.
