FRED H. PRINCE IN RACING American Sportsman Will Make Purchases and Campaign String on the French Turf in 1925 NEW YORK, N. Y.. Feb. 1. Fred II. Prince, the American sportsman of Prides Crossing, Mass., and Pau, France, promises j to enter racing in a serious way in France next year. He also will blossom out as a! French breeder and will purchase a few brood ! mares to mate with Ex Yoto, the premier sire of French steeplechasers. This news was brought back from France by Lieut. Thomas McCreery on his return to this country with the purchases of Julius Fleischmann. He said that it was the intention of Mr. Prince to buy a number of yearlings at the Deauville yearling sales in August with which to begin his racing stable. Mr. Prince is master of the Quorum Hunt at Pau and he comes by his devotion to the turf through inheritance, for he isa son of Norman Prince, one time foremost of the amateur riders in this country. Norman Prince was killed in action in France while flying with the Lafayette cscadrille. Another son, Fred Prince, Jr., is a polo player of parts, and a nephew, Gordon Prince, is an amateur cross-country rider. Mr. Prince was owner of Faustanta, winner of the Middlesex Hunt Cup of 19lG, when it was run at Brook-line, Mass.
