NEW STEEPLECHASE EVENT Maryland Jockey Club Announces Event for Subscription Jumpers Others to Follow. BALTIMORE, Md., Feb. 7. Appreciating the great good which is sure to come from the development of the international steeple-: chase subscription arranged last summer and consummated with the distribution of the thirty -one French, English and Irish horses last November, the Maryland Jockey Club i will tender a race at the spring meeting restricted to the horses of the subscription, owned by the original subscribers or someone acceptable to the committee. The stake will be a liberal one and a big field is assured, for from all quarters have j i come promises of starters for the event. This : race will be the first of a series, for similar races will be tendered at Belmont Park, Aqueduct and Saratoga, with still more for the autumn meetings in New York and Maryland.
