Twenty Years Ago Today Chief Turf Events of Feb. II, 1904 Racing at New Orleans, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Liberal offers have been made for the good colts Reservation and Brancas. The former is the property of George llcndrie and the latter the property of William Gerst. Both were refused. Carroll Reid, who made a big reputation last year as the trainer of Middleton and Jungbluths The Picket, which easily won the American Derby, stated yesterday that he would bring his entire string of horses to Churchill Downs in the course of a few days and that they would be prepared there for the seasons campaign. Jockey Redfern accomplished quite a feat today at Ascot Park when he rode half of the winners on the card. The first race saw Red-fern land Turtle home an easy winner over Mistletide by three lengths and he duplicated this performance by winning the second by the same distance with J. V. Kirby in a one-mile selling affair. He narrowly missed making it three in a row when his mount, Canejo, was beaten by half a length for the third race, Lunar being the winner here. Redfern then gave the favorite, Golden Mineral, a perfect ride in the fourth race, which enabled him to snatch a nose victory over the fast-finishing Pat Bulger. The latter race was a dash of three-quarters, the usual daily handicap. Word comes from the East that the horses which will perform in the colors of Mr. P. J. Dwyer this year have wintered remarkably well at Gravesend and most of them show a greater advancement than the majority of horses stabled about New York during the cold months. In the two-year-old division ths string will be much stronger than it was last year, in point of numbers, and at this tim there is little doubt that several in the lot being fitted by Welsh will train into high-class performers. One of the best-looking ones show in Jennie McCabe, a full sister to Major Dain-gerficld, being by Handspring Mon Droit.,
