The thorough - bred stallion, Anmer, presented to Canada by His Majesty King George, arrived this Aveek at J. C. Fletchers farm at Downsview, Avhere he Avill be stationed for the next two or three months, to fill the demand for his services in the Aicinity of Toronto, in the interests of the light horse and thoroughbred breeding in- dustry. A number of thoroughbred mares have already been booked for the season. Anmer is by Florizel II., full brother to Diamond Jubilee and Persimmon, out of- Guinea Hen by Gallinule, Avhich embrace blood lines Avhich should commend itself to breeders of the thoroughbred. His success as a sire is readily understood. With somewhat limited opportunities since coming to Canada, it is interesting to note that during the past season, on the Canadian racing circuit, prac-j tically all of his get to race Avere returned Avinners, and included such useful performers as Baby Mine, Avith four cerditable Avins to her success ; Anaprisa accounted for five wins, and Gazinta also earning five brackets to her record ; Greybourne, Robert Newells fast mare, carried off three successful wins although an exceedingly hard luck mare, haAr-L ing contracted a severe cold, which greatly minimized her racing career as a three-year- old and four-year-old. Leaside, oAvned by the Kirkfield Stable, has Avon from smart fillies, both at home and abroad.
