H. P. WHITNEY LEASES FARM Secures 433 Acres in Kentucky for Grazing Purposes In Mem-oriams Dam Has Foal. LEXINGTON, Ky., March 23. Acting for Harry Payne Whitney, whose thoroughbred horse interests in Kentucky he manages, Charles H. Berryman yesterday leased from II. Burdette Walton and Matt Savage Walton their farm of 433 acres, all in bluegraje with the exception of sixteen acres. The lease is for two years. The farm is situated on the Bryan Station pike and runs back to the Whitney farm, which is on the Paris pike. It is to be used for grazing purposes for mares and foals. Enchantress, dam of In Memoriam, has a fine colt foal by Peter Pan. The mare is to go this season to Whisk Broom II. Enchantress and her fcal, while they are of the Himyar Stud band, are the property of Mrs. Phil T. Chinn and Mrs. James H. Reed. Phil T. Chinn has been quite ill for the past week, but reports from his home today are to the effect that he is improving, though still in bed. W. F. Poison of Buffalo is here to see his horses. He expects to take up five that have teen running out all winter as soon as he can arrange an organization. Stable men and boys are very scarce just now. Poisons mares are at T. B. Jones Crystal Spring Farm. He bred five last year and all are in foal. John Troxler arrived today from New Orleans with Lucidus, Redwood, Bugler and Stamps. Six horses belonging to C. H. Knebelkamp also came in from New Orleans, among them being Mr. Pat and Mrs. Pat. C. B. Shaffer of Chicago is visiting his Goldstream Farm and is well pleased with tho thoroughbred mares and foals at that place in charge of Tom B. Young. W. E. Phillips was an arrival from New-Orleans.
