Twenty Years Ago Today Chief Turf Events of May 28, 1904 1 Racing at Gravesend, Hawthorne, Toronto, Latonia, Union and Delmar Parks at St. Louis. False winners were wired to Hot Springs on. St. Louis and Chicago races last Wednesday. Ten started, with Bryn Mawr an overwhelming favorite at post time. He got away from the barrier flatfooted and was pocketed to the first turn, but when clear easily took command and won as his rider pleased. It was an interesting duel for second place between Wotan and Dolly Spanker, with the former getting his nose under the wire first. Careless led the others home ten lengths back of Dolly Spanker. James R. Keenes stable accounted for the preceding race, the Manhasset Stakes, for two-year-olds, of ,000 added.
