SPEEDY REPUTATION • Upholds His Reputation as One of Best Juveniles of Year. Wins Bashford Manor Stakes — Memorial Handicap Easy for Bourbon Boy. » LOCISYILLK. Ky., May 30.— Williams Brothers crack colt Reputation, which has been scoring impressively over the best that has been pitted against him, accounted for the Bashford Manor Stakes, featuring the Decoration Day program and worth ,280 net to the winner. He won as in his previous winning essays by as big a margin as his rider elected, and was easing up today long before reaching the finish. He raced the four and a half furlongs in :53. which is two-fifths of a second from the track record. There were only three other starters in the race and Reputation ruled the shortest-priced favorite of the present meeting. Beginning on even terms with the others, he moved promptly into the lead, with Bolivar Bond his closest attendant, and during the last eighth Smallwood eased him. Step Along was off well, but Pool took him back sharply, but he moved up resolutely in the stretch. He was no match for the winner, but raced as if best of the others. Bolivar Bond began tiring steadily in the last eighth and Ocean Current came on to beat him for third place. Step Along got 00 for being second and Ocean Current 00 for third money. Bolivar Bond saved his entry and starting fee, amounting to 20. ANOTHER BANNER CROWD. The second largest crowd of the present meeting was on hand to witness the decision of a holiday card that included as features the Bashford Manor Stakes and the Memorial Day Handicap. For the first time since Derby Day ideal racing conditions prevailed and contributed vastly towards the enjoyment of the big throng. The speculative inclined were in their best stride and supported the winners extensively. Most of the successful ones were short-priced favorites. Arthur Boards much improved Bourbon Boy gave a sparkling exhibition in the Memorial Day Handicap at a mile and a sixteenth, carrying ,000 added. He won with great ease from his stable companion, Pindar Peel, with Blue Nose in third place. Pindar Peel moved into a long lead in the early stages, with Col. Oilmore his closest follower, and Bourbon Boy having forced his way through at the first turn was in third ptece but a good distance off from the leading pair. He steadily decreased the distance as the race progressed, and passing out Col. O.ilmore, set sail for Pindar Peel and continuing gamely in the stretch o%erhauled the leader in the last sixteenth, to win drawing out fast Pindar Peel had no difficulty landing in second place. Blue Nose, after dropping out of it in the first half, came again and disposed of Col. dilmore for third money. Knobbie and Off Spring were considered factors before the race, but both showed dull performances and were far back at the finish. ONE FOR W. R. CM. W. It. CM annexed his first purse of the meeting when Ohone, showing a good performance, finished in advance of Sporty He-Cee, with San Vicente in third place. The placed trio dominated the running during the last half mile, with the winner in advance from practically the start. Sporty McGeel made a game effort in the stretch, but Ohone held on gamely under skilful riding. The six starters in back of the placed ones were beaten off and never figured seriously in the result at any part of the race. Sunny Ducrow, an outsider, furnished an upset in the opener, which she won after coming from far back and heading Longboat in the last sixteenth. Longboat, under a1 hustling ride by Corcoran, raced in improved form and held steadily to his task during Um hard stretch drive, but faltered near the end. Bob just managed to last long enough to retain third place. The early running was do— fcjf contested with Longboat, Bob and Jupiter alternating in the lead and racing closely grouped. Sunny Ducrow made her determined and successful bid in the last eighth. Gibtaa and Corinth furnished a spectacular Imish in the mile race, Ciihlon winning by a head. A good lield was attracted here, with Bob Tail enjoying a long lead and apparently the winner when he rounded into the stretch. He began tiring fast at this stage and Gibton and Corinth passed him like a shot. The latter pair rontinued their struggle in the last eighth and roused the enthusiasm of th.-big crowd. Bob Tail held on for third place.
