NEXT EPINARD SPECIAL May be Transferred to Belmont Park Because Aqueduct is Not Large Enough for Crowd. NEW YORK, N. Y., Sept. G. The second International Special at one mile, scheduled to be run at Aqueduct September 27, may be transferred to Belmont Park, where the first race of the series arranged for Pierre Wert-heimers Epinard was decided Labor Day. There has been a growing demand for sucn a move and Jockey Club officials, facing the problem of caring for a crowd of forty to fifty thousand at the comparatively small plant of the Queens County Jockey Club, are now considering the question. Accommodations at Belmont Park, while taxed by the Labor Day crowd, are more adequate for such races than those at the other New York courses. In case of unfavorable weather, the Queens County Jockey Club plant could not offer shelter to more than a small fraction of the crowd expected to turn out for the second race of the big series. In the event of a change it would be necessary to obtain the permission of the various owners of the horses engaged, but this should not be a difficult matter. The mile at Aqueduct is the finest proving ground at the distance in the United States and it is a pity that the equipment of the plant does not match the track itself. There is a fine long run from the start to the big turn ana then a run-in of nearly half a mile. On such a course the best horse should win.
