W. E. LEWIS PASSES AWAY NEW YORK, N. Y., Oct. 28. William Eugene Lewis, president of the Lewis Publishing Company and for many years directing editor of the Morning Telegraph, died at his heme in Great Neck, L. I., Tuesday forenoon. Mr. Lewis had been in poor health for a considerable time and his death was in a measure expected. i Mr. Lewis for many years has directed the destinies of the Morning Telegraph, and in ! his long and honorable career in the field of journalism was a man of great force and of qualities that made him widely known and greatly admired in his chosen profession. In the death of William Eugene Lewis the turf loses a staunch champion of its cause, and journalism loses one of its brightest figures.
