ARIZONA MEETING AT HAND Twenty-Four Days of Racing to Be Inaugurated at Phoenix Tomorrow Afternoon. PHOENIX, Ariz.. Nov. 8. Four stake events, to be decided during the twenty-four-day race meeting opening here November 10, brought out a total of 142 nominations, racing secretary W. W. Finn of the Arizona Jockey Club announced today. Each has a guaranteed value of ,000. The first, to be run Monday, is the Inaugural Stake at three-quarters and is for all ages. Thirty have been named and "it is expected more than half of these will start Those nominated "are:" Maynard L., Mar-quesito, The Colonel, Cornflower, Busy Bob, Spirea, Malzavena, Perfect Day, J. B. Parker. Joe Underwood, Jolly "Cephas, Lady Small. Sasper, Brown Rock, Golden Pine, Solimente, . Eva Song, Olds Eight, Golden Red, Randolph, Margaret Madison, Recruit, Emma Williams, Jack Fountain, Cornstalk, Porter Ella, Olympian King, Kirkwood, Full o Fun and Philip Lugo. Thirty have been named for the Governors Derby, at one mile and seventy" yards, to be decided November 15.. The handicap is for three-year-olds and over. The third stake, the Thanksgiving Day Handicap, at one and one-sixteenth miles, has brought thirty-five nominations. It will bo run November 27, and -is for three-year-olds and over, as also is the Arizona Handicap, to be run the closing day, December G. Forty-seven have been named for this event at a mile. All is in readiness for the opening day and the track is in perfect condition. With a much better grade of horses here this fall than last year, track records at all distances are expected to go by the boards the first week with fine weather prevailing. Fifteen pari-mutuel machines will provide patrons with a medium of speculation, the same as last year, and manager John O. Tal-bott reports his crew of sellers and cashiers on hand from Omaha. The first six days of the meeting will be run in conjunction with the state fair. There -will . be seven races daily during the first week, with a possibility of adding one more on succeeding Saturdays.
