WEIGHTS FOR PUBLICO CUP Zev in Post of Honor for Marylands Greatest Long Distance Feature to Be Run Saturday. BALTIMORE, Md., Nov. 11. The Maryland Jockey Clubs premier long distance event, the Pimlico Cup, two miles and a quarter, is set for Saturday, November 15, the twelfth day of the Pimlico autumn racing, and is a fitting climax to one of the most notable meetings ever over the "Old Hilltop" track, where features are an every day occurrence, and 0,000 fixtures are th rule and not the exception. In fact, the club seems to "count that day lost, whose low descending sun sees on its track no special races run," and as the trainers of the four placed horses receive ,500, 00, 300 and 00 respectively, in addition to what goes to the winning owners in the Cup, there is every inducement for a big field, and, consequently, a great contest Although the Pimlico Cup is only in ils sixth year, it has had but three individual winners, that peerless gelding, Exterminator, winning it three times in succession for Willis Sharpe Kilmer, in 1919, 1920 and 1921, defeating Royce Rools in the first year, and that wonderful campagner, Boniface, the other two years, Captain Alccck winning in 1922 and Hephaistos last year. No one, who had the good fortune to be present, can fail to remember the superb stretch duel between the sons of McGce and Transvaal, on both occasions, a struggle, in fact, that lasted from start to finish, and when Exterminator finally was declared the victor it was the unanimous conclusion that no gamer racers could ba found anywhere. The Pimlico Cup is one of the few long distance races staged in this country and appeals especially to old time turfmen, who like an exhibition of stamina as well as speed.
