SPECIAL TRAIN DELAYED Shipment of Xalapa Farm Horses Arrives at New York Several Hours Late. NEW YORK, N. Y., Dec. S. The special nine-car horse train bringing the thoroughbreds from E. F. Simms Nalapa Farm that will be sold at auction here Wednesday and Thursday night by the Fasig-Tipton Company, was delayed four hours en route. The train left Paris, Ky., at 10:30 a. m. Sunday and was due here at G p. m. Monday night. The special train was routed over the New York Central lines via Detroit and Buffalo. Arrangements were made to unload the stock here at Tenth avenue and Thirty-third street. A large fleet of vans was held in readiness to carry the horses to Squadron A. Armory at Madison avenue and Ninty-fourth street, where the sale will be conducted. The shipment from Kentucky comprised 151 head of brood mares, stallions, yearlings and weanlings. The remainder of the 170 horses that will" be sold are coming from Saratoga. Five were shipped from Saratoga at 5 oclock tonight and are due in New York early Tuesday morning. Seven are coming from Maryland. These also are due Tuesday morning. According to reports received by the Fasig-Tipton Company from points en route the Kentucky consignment shipped in good condition. None of the horses suffered the slightest distress from the long journey and confinement. The horses will be on exhibition on the afternoon of Tuesday. Breeders and others interested in thoroughbred horses are gathering here from all sections of the country. The advance guard from Kentucky arrived today. One of the first to report was John E. Madden, master of Hamburg Place. He stated he would be active in the bidding. Others registered at local hotels are Mose Goldblatt and J. O. and G. H. Keene. S. C. Nuckols, who, with E. J. Tranter, will wield the hammer, arrived from his home at Versailles, Ky.
