PEDIGREES ARE TABULATED J. E. Madden Issues Book Showing Blood Lines of Daughters of Imported Star Shoot. LEXINGTON, Ky., April 23.— John E. Madden has never been known to let any grass grow under his feet. When it comes to shaking hands with opportunity he generally Is the first to extend his "mit." A few days ago the list of sires of dams of winners in America for the year 1924 was published. Imported Star Shoot headed that list, as he has done for several years previously. John E. Madden is the owner of twenty-eight daughters of Star Shoot. He forthwith published in book form the tabulated pedigrees of those mares. The preface to the book reads: "As imported Star Shoots influence is so potent in American thoroughbred annals, and Hamburg Place having been his home, as well as his burial place, it seems especially fitting that his daughters, of whom there are no doubt more on this than any other one breeding farm, be given special notice. Hence the pedigrees and data herewith submitted." Twelve of the mares are out of daughters of imported Ogden, and that sire ranked tenth in the brood mare sire list for last year. The Star Shoot mares out of daughters of Ogden arc: Atala, Contention, Ernestina, Hostess, Limelist, May Alley, Music in the Air, Peasantress, Ricochet, Star Class, Sweet Briar and Tea Room. The others in the book are: Alice Haigh, Eastern Star, Elizabeth D. R.. Ethnea, Guesswork, Heliosis, Jitney, Looking Up, Maud B. L., Orana, Pasadena Queen, Starlight Dance, Throne, Typist, Vineyard Maid and Waterfeather. Ten of these mares belong to the No. 4 family Bruce Lowe system, and seven of the ten are of the Maggie B. B. branch of that family.
