■ m JAMAICA TURF NOTES NEW YORK, N. Y., April 29. Jockey J. Wallace accompanied by agent B. Beach left for Baltimore following the running of the last race. Wallace will ride during the Pimlico meeting for Willis Sharpe Kilmer. Kd Heffener celebrated the opening of the season by announcing to his friends that he had become a grandfather recently. His daughter gave birth to a bouncing baby boy. Wm. Howard, assistant starter to Marshall Cassidy at Tijuana during the winter season, was among the days arrivals. The stewards for the meeting include John K. Cowdin, George H. Bull, W. S. Vosburgh, while the racing officials are Judges E. C. Smith, C. Cornehlsen ; Starter : Mars Cassidy. Racing Secretary, George F. Dobson. One of the notable changes made by C. F. Dwyer, general manager of Jamaica, was the moving of the executive offices to the paddock from the clubhouse enclosure. This also meant the opening of a passageway along the outer rail, enabling visitors to the paddock to visit that interesting end of the course without passing through the clubhouse enclosure. It also gave that enclosure a greater degree of privacy anu exclusive-ness. Mars Cassidy was unable to be on hand for the opening of the racing season by reason of sickness and the starting was done by Roy Dickerson, his chief of staff. Dicker-son obtained excellent results. After the running of the first race, in which Earl Sande had the mount on the I.«ona Farm Stables Our Buddy, he was called into the stand and presented with a handsome loving cup. This was a testimonial from non-racegoers of Jamaica and was in appreciation of Earl Sande as a sportsman and neighbor. The presentation was made by Warren Ashmead.
