JUDGE MURPHY IN CHICAGO Spends a Busy Day With Hawthorne Officials Before Returning to Maple Heights. General Manapor Joseph A. Murphy, of the Chicago Business Mens Racing Association, planned a busy day in Chicago Sunday. returning1 Sunday night to complete his ! duties at Maple Heights, which closes en May 30. From that time on, he will give his undivided attention to the Hawthorne I meeting. He will leave Cleveland, on the night of May 30, for Belmont Park and spend the first part of the week there looking after the closing of the four big stakes, the Derby, j Special, Independence and I ahor Day Handicaps. He will then proceed to Latonia and spend the rest of the week there and will be at Latonia when the stakes close, June 6. Sundays work includes a conference with the associations legislative committee. Charles Krutekoff, Albert Sabbath and He-bert Q. Shimp, going over details with resident manager, Charles T. Kssig. and making the first definite assignment of stalls with Ben Miller, who will look after that department. A force is at work spraying the stalls inside and out, so as to make them perfectly sanitary. The stalls will be thrown open to horsemen June 1, but no horses will be stabled there until that time. The management wishes to caution horsemen that it has no interest direct or indirect in the Aurora meeting, and the as-■t signment of stalls there does not carry an assignment at Hawthorne, unless specifically made. A great many of the Hawthorne stalls are being held for those who are to race at Latonia and Belmont Park and while every effort will be made to take care of everyone, there may be some disappointments. 1
