THREE BIG STAKE EVENTS Windsor Jockey Club Offers the Frontier Handicap and Two Other Stake Attractions. WINDSOR, Ont.. May 23.— The Windsor Jockey Club has announced three big stake features for its first meeting to be held from July IS to July 25. The Frontier Handicap with 0,000 added is the premier offering, the Provincial and Canadian Handicaps, each with ,000 added, being the supplementary stake attractions. The Frontier Handicap is an old established race, this years decision being ita twenty-first running. First ran in 1902, the Frontier has been continued annually except in 191S and 1919, when the Great Worlds War called a halt and in 1923 when Windsor failed to open its gates because if high taxation. In the early years of its existence, the Frontier was of modest value, but with an increase in added money in 1916, the stake assumed a greater importance and attracted more entries and of a higher quality. Xot only were there many notable horses entered in the Frontier, but some of them were among the contestants. The great Exterminator tried to add this feature to his long list of successes, but he could do no better than finish third in both 1920 and 1921. Old Itosebud was a famous horse that won the Frontier, his victory coming in 1917. There is every reason to b.dieve that this year will be no exception in the quality of the entries that will be received for the Frontier, when that stake together with the Provincial and Canadian Handicaps, close for entries on May 26. The Provincial Handicap with ,000 added, is for two-year-olds, while the Canadian Handicap, also with ,000 added, is for three-year-olds and over for horses foaled in the Dominion of Canada. While there is an unusually large number of race tracks operating in the 1nited States this year no shortage of horses is anticipated as the Canadian major circuit has lost none of its popularity and the officials of the Windsor Jockey Club are confident that horsemen of the States who have been in the habit of patronizing the old Windsor track will return again this year. A representative list of entries is expected for the stake features, which, as mentioned above, close for entries Tuesday, May 26. 9
