Twenty Years Ago Today Chief Turf Events of June 3, 1905 Racing at Gravesend, Latonia, Toronto, Kansas City, Union Park and Fair Grounds at St. Louis. Before the largest crowd that has visited the Latonia track in years, The Foreman, a chestnut colt owned by George Hendrie, won the Latonia Derby this afternoon, a nose separating him from Talbot Bros. Hanbright. William Gersts McClel.an was third. Only five started, the net value to the winner being ,950. The time for one mile and a half was 2 :38. Fifteen thousand people witnessed the race. The Kansas City Jockey Clubs meeting at Elm Ridge came to an end this afternoon. President Gardner says it unquestionably was the most successful of the three meetings held at Elm Ridge. Few, if any, horses in the West can beat Floral King in his present good form, was the consensus of the horsemen here after Floral Kings performance today. He defeated Bondago and Glassful in the *Js3i and a sixteenth handicap easily. Oiscau was the medium of a colossal plunge today at Belmont Park to win the Broadway Stakes. Agile, his formidable western rival, received scarcely less support. They were both beaten by Oxford, which won with supreme case. "Diamond Jim" Bradys 5,000 colt, which suffered an ignominious defeat, carried a stable comnussion of 0,000. Oiseau had been highly tried at Shcepshead Bay and Mr. Brady thought he could not lose. Oxfurd ran in close pursuit of the leaders to the last turn, where he moved up on the outside simultaneously with Agile and raced the latter into defeat after a tremendous stretch drive of a sixteenth to come away at the finish and win by three lengths. Von Tromp made the running on sufferance in the early stages, but hung on well in the stretch to take third money. Oiseau was close up for the first three-quarters, but thereafter fell to the rear and finished last of the five. Harry Payne Whitneys Burgomaster surprised by winning the Great American Stakes, for two-year olds, at long odds. James R. Keenes B; hemian, making his first start, was second and Newton B -miingtons Jerry Wernberg finished third.
