AURORA OPENING NEAR • Finishing Touches of Preparation Being Rushed to Completion. — i Over 700 Horses on the Grounds — Judge Monck Arrives — Jockeys and Their Riding Weight. i AURORA. III., June 2. — It was expected that before the day was ever that approximately 700 horses would be stabled at Exposition Park and, with the late arrivals tomorrow, all the available stable room will be occupied. P.usy days have been Sunday, Monday and today, with the arrival of stables from Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia and other points. The Aurora track has certainly taken on a truly metropolitan turf appearance, while the finishing touches of preparations are being rushed to completion, the horsemen are unlimbering their charges and this morning a number of exceptionally good moves were recorded : At the same time the offices of the Jockey Club were swamped with applications for tickets and seat reservations for opening day. If the good weather continues an immense throng will be on hand to welcome the thoroughbred. There were enough ticket requests from Chicago alone to insure a near record crowd, general manager Trimble announced. IXAUCntAL HANDICAP FEATURE. Entries for the Inaugural Handicap, the feature race of Thursdays opening program, were being received today by racing secretary M. K Macfarlan. The official weights to be carried will be Issued tomorrow. Several stars will compete according to advance entries. Among the entries expected is Osprey, owned by Earl Binnell. Osprey his not raced since last March, but was reported by his owner to be in the best of condition. Osprey won seven out of nine starts at Tijuana. The horse at one time was owned by the late August Belmont. Rival, recently purchased by Joseph Trinz of Chicago, is another possible nomination in ■ the big race. Trinz said that the horse was ready to race and intended to enter him. Millwick, winner of the Ohio State Derby, is another, as well as Brave Hob, which ran third to Quatrain in the Louisiana Derby. Judge J. F. Monck. one of the stewards that will preside at Exposition Park during the meeting, is an arrival, making the official family complete. The licen.se committee has been busy receiving applications from the various trainers and jackeys. The applications will be looked over today and passed upon by the committee in charge of that department. The horses have shown improvement in their work as some fast gallops were recorded this morning. PUICEMAKER IN FORM. Pricemaker, which won the inaugural handicap here last fall, did the best work of the morning when he ran a half mile in 4S J i seconds. Dingo, the consistent performer | I from the stable of F.
