LURE OF GOLD IN FRONT Wins Principal Race at Brooklyn Park by Narrow Margin — Good Crowd Despite Heat. CLEVELAND, Ohio. June 2— After racing in closest pursuit of Body Guard to the stretih, W, Tingles Lure of Gold closed up stoutly and outs.imed the pacemaker by a narrow margin in the fifth and feature contest at Brooklyn Park, this afternoon. Last One, well up throughout, barely lasted to save third from John Morrill. The latter closed much ground, finished fast and showed a creditable performance. The excessive heat wave, which swept this district yesterday continued today, but a pood crowd was on hand to witness the sport. Just A Toy, accounted for the opening dash, but had to be much the best. She ran out at first turn carrying Freda D., to the outside fence, but re?overed the lost ground gamely during the last quarter and outstayed Xorcross in the stretch test. Destiny came from the rear in the run home to be third. Opening up a long early lead, J. G. Bickel never left the result in serious doubt during the running of the second race. Spanish Throne moved up Into a contending position after going half the journ-ney of the third and easily disposed of Biddledee in the stretch. Taking command after going the first quarter John Iloshor retained a safe lead over his opponents for the remainder of the way in the fourth. Utah ran out while leading at the first turn, but was easily best of the* osiers. Virge drew clear after rounding the first turn and thereafter showed the way by a comfortable margin in the sixth. Sea-Wolf and Cavalier divided the remainder of the purse, bea-Wolf proving the better. Jockey J. Conners was an arrival today from Montreal. W. ueorge, an apprentice, was today granted a jockey license to ride here. Eugene Bury, who served as judge and racing secretary at the recent meeting at Mount Royal Park, was an arrival today. He reports that the meeting was a success. For rough riding during the running of the first race jockey v*. Taylor was set down for ten days by the stewards.
