STING HAS QUARTER CRACK Butler Colt Will B6 Rested Until UntilLatter Latter Part of Saratoga SaratogaMeeting Meeting NEW YORK N Y June 20 Stings injury is not of a permanent character He had a quarter crack last year which kept him out of training for a part of the racing season The old trouble manifested itself under a strain of the hard race for the Brooklyn and Mr Butler has decided that a rest will be of benefit to the best horse that has ever carried his colors colorsA A quarter crack is a split in the hoof that is most painful If it docs not extend to the hair a Test of a few weeks allows the in ¬ jured hoof to grow out a new part There are several ways of treating a quarter crack but the best is to cut it out remove the pressure on that part of the foot and wait for nature to renew the horn Some trainers used to nail the foot together and take away the pressure with a bar shoe shoeIt It is probable that Sting will be ready to race during the latter part of the Saratoga meeting He will be a welcome starter in the Saratoga Cup the Jockey Club Gold Cup and other weightforrage races in which Altawood Ladkin Mad Play Sarazen and other stars are entered
