HORSES FROM NEW ORLEANS Forty Thoroughbreds that Raced in the South During Winter Reach Louisville. IXUISYIl.PK. Ky.. April 11.— The local thoroughbreel colony at hath tracks received many additions Sunday morning when approximately forty horses arrived from New Orleans and were unloaded in a drizzling rain. The shipment to arriveel comprised the Bloomfield Stable, in charge of B. B. Williams: Kd Trotter, John Randolph and a number of smaller establishments. All of the horses were unloaded in good condition. Corncracker. tin eligible to the Kentucky Derby, headed the list of horses that Kd Trotter unloaded at Douglas Park. This son of North Star III. and Spring Maid, which proved to be one of the best juveniles in western racing of last season will hardly be ;i Derby starter. Infortunately for owner Trotter the colt after one brilliant victory at the Fair Grounds in January bowed a tendon in his next start, which was in the rich New Orleans Handicap. According to advices received here by W. 10. Smith, an intimate friend of William Zeigler. Jr., the tatters stable of twenty horses that have been wintering at Pine-hurst. N. C. in charge of William J. Speirs. will be shipped Tuesday to Belmont Park, where the horses will be fitteel for the spring season on the metropolitan tracks. The stable includes a couple of Kentucky Derby eligihles — Colorful attd Bnpino — which aecorel-ir.g to all reports have wintered well and arc well advanced in their training. Julius W. Bell, w*ell known Louisville sportsman, who bred antl developed the colt Sir Peter, and last summer sold him for a high figure, has great hopes that he possesses another high-class racer in a two-1 year-old bay colt by Colonel Yennie — Jreen Hose, which he recently purchaseel from J. B. ltespess. Mr. Bell has nameel the colt Irospect. S. N. Holman made several adtlitions to his stable when he purchased from O. K. Blank, on private terms, the horses Kyrock and Pecora. J. S. Ownbey is a recent arrival from Tampa with his stable and a number of horses belonging to J. H. lambird of this city. J. J. Flannigan has arranged to ship to Lexington this week. H. W. Sullivans Kentucky Derby candidate. Take a Chance, winner of last seasons Bashford Manor Stakes, is not among the list of eligibles to the- Blue Crass Stakes, which is to he run at Iexington, is re-gardeel as a Derby preliminary. He will bo entered and started in a number of overnight handicaps during the meeting to fit him for his Derby engagement.
