MERGLER REINSTATED LEXINGTON. Ky.. May 1. -Secretary Sherwood of the Kentucky State Pacing Commission today gave to the press the following statement : "The Kentucky State Pacing Commission this day has terminated its ruling against jockey P. Mergler. By this action Mergler automatically is returned to good standing. The reinstatement of jockey Mergler was done at the insistent request and recommendation of Steward Sam C. Xuckols, who conducted the investigation into fraudulent conditions which heretofore occurred in Kentucky. Prior to the intensive investigation conducted by him judge Nuckols promised to intercede in behalf of jockey Mergler if the boy would confess to his part of the fraud and aid officials in their attempt to uncover alleged fraudulent practices on the turf. Due almost entirely to the confession e htained from Mergler. Kentucky racing officials were enabled to prosecute their investigation to a successful conclusion and for this reason jockey Mergler is accorded consideration and again is placed in good standing." Signed "W. S. Sherwood. Secretary."
