CARLARIS TRAINING AGAIN Crack Colt Apparently Fully FullyRecovered Recovered From Mishap That ThatKept Kept Him Out of Derby COLLTNSVILLE III May 29 The Chula Vista Stables Carlaris is again in training and seemingly is none the worse for his in ¬ jury as far as can be noted He will prob ¬ ably benefit by his layoff and will come back to racing in superb condition conditionTrainer Trainer Kraft who is in charge of the crack colt spoke freely this morning of the colts injury and present condition He said Carlaris brushed himself on the right hind hock inflicting a minor injury while cooling out after the running of the Cof froth Han ¬ dicap The cut about one eighth of an inch long was promptly treated and did not ap ¬ pear at all serious healing over in three days daysOn On the seventh day after the Coffrotli the colt was galloped threeeighths of a mile and while the mud was being scraped from his hock the small scab was dislodged In a day or so signs of infection were noted and Carlaris was thrown out of active training Mercury packs were applied to the injured member but these proved of too great strength and as a consequence the leg became filled from hock to foot The colt was treated by tubbing the hock and leg for two days and when he was unloaded at Louisville no signs of filling were noted notedHowever However when the colt was given his gallops the wound reopened It was finally decided to lance the hock in front in order to establish complete drainage and thereby this was effected effectedThe The hock is now completely healed as far as we can ascertain and the colt is exer ¬ cising regularly being galloped two miles on the Fairmount course courseMr Mr Anderson and I are not willing to take any chances with Carlaris and for this rea ¬ son we are sending the colt along slowly We cannot promise the exact date of his next start but can say that when he goes to the post he will be a thoroughly fit colt
