Dick Welles Selections SelectionsAt At Aurora HOCKING WHIFF KOCKKT KOCKKTThe The race put up by ROCKING in her last start here was a Rood one and we think she is the best of those that will hook up in the initial number It was her first start sine the Tampa meeting but she demonstrated that she had nt lost any of her speed for she came like a bullet at the end and was gradually gaining on the winner If she will run the same kind of a race today expect her to get down in front WHIFF was a starter in the same race with ROCKING and while she failed to get a portion of the purse her effort was a good one Assuming that the race did her much Rood we look for her to be the one to plug the twohole here ROCKET has been away from the races for some time her last start being at the Fair Grounds at New Orleans She had but one race at that course and then went wrong She is reported fit and ready to race at the present and if the information is correct she will give the others a battle MEDDLING SETH comes from Tijuana with an impres ¬ sive record and may be able to horn in the money at the finish finishALLEI ALLEI EN ROB ROY McCIilMMOX McCIilMMOXIts Its a bad lot that are to face the starter in the second race a threequarters dash The limitsized field will very likely be seen here as well as in the first race There really is not much to choose from and one may be as good as another We are picking ALLEDEN to be home the winner In his one race this year which was at Churchill Downs he met up with some fairly good ones and while he did not land in the first three was only beaten a length though unplaced and on that account alone are we picking him to cop this heat ROB ROY was given a race through the mud the other day and he showed a plain disliking for the going With a fast track prevailing we think his chances will be enhanced He turned in some good races at Tijuana ana when in the mood could beat this sort of company Mc CRIMMON may be good enough for the short end of the purse basing on his last race raceEMBRYO EMBRYO KDAA MITCHELL THE IVIRE IVIREThe The third race a four and a half furlongs dash for juveniles promises a tight fit between EMBRYO and EDNA MITCHELL These two were both winners in their last starts EMBRYOS race was the more im ¬ pressive both from a time standpoint and the manner in which it was achieved He packed 113 pounds and ran the same distance as todays race in rCa He carries but 110 today and with weight off look for him to run the distance even faster EDNA MITCHELL put up a fine showing in her race for she came fast at the end to nip the leaders and then outgamed them in the final strides She no doubt will cause EMBRYO plenty of trouble but dont think she is quite good enough to beat him THE WIRE showed a decided improvement in his last race and if he improves over that j 1 showing may be the one to save the show j j3IAX I 3IAX BRICK MACLEAN DEEP j THOUGHT i iThe The Wheaton Purse an allowance race for threeyearolds and over at the sprinting distance of threequarters is the companion feature to the Inaugural and some good ones are entered ye are picking MAX BRICK to account for this purse He was entered Saturday and win or lose he is our selection today The going here suits j 1 I j him to a tee and he has but to run the same as he did last Wednesday to win this purse MACLEAN dopes to be the one nearest to MAX at the finish His first race here found him landing in second place behind the latter and the same effort again today should see him doing likewise DEEP THOUGHT was unplaced in the same race but he is capable of doing much better He gets in with 108 pounds today and at the weights looks like a good play for the show portion of the purse purseSTATLEK STATLEK ARBITRATION BALBOA BALBOATwenty Twenty high class performers were named for the first running of the Inaugural Day Handicap at one mile and a sixteenth with 3500 added STATLER gets in light here with 10S pounds and at the weights looks like the best play He defeated many ofj those which will start here in his race Friday and the same effort today should see him again leading home some of his more fashionable rivals Arbitration has raced with some good ones over the Maryland courses his last effort being a second to Joy Smoke In that race he only carried ninety two pounds but for all of it he made the E F Whitney representative give his all to beat him a head In todays tussle he is assigned 109 pounds and that small weight should not bother him If he runs as he did at Pimlico he is going to prove a tough ona to beat We are looking for BALBOA to repeat his effort of Friday when he ran second to STATLEI He shares the post of honor with GEORGE DE MAR both being asked to carry 118 pounds The latter took an awful flop in his last race and we dont look for him to prove dangerous here hereJOHNNY JOHNNY JEWELL GREEN BLAZES PRODIGAL PRODIGALThe The best play on the holiday card is gleamed in the sixth a mile run JOHNNY JEWELL is the one in question He is in rare form at the present and while he could do no better than finish third in his only race here we expect him to show to much better advantage today He has the speed of this bunch and the race mentioned above should have tightened him up for todays test GREEN BLAZES scored in her first appearance here then finished third in her next start Both of her races were good ones and she looks like the most likely one to run to the place PRODIGAL won in his first start and while he doesnt rate with the first two mentioned should not have any trouble in garnering the show money moneyDOROTHY DOROTHY ADAMS MERCUTIO ARRAGOSA ARRAGOSADOROTHY DOROTHY ADAMS looks like the best of those which will meet in the good night tilt The limit sized field is expected here seven ¬ teen being entered She has been showing good form in her recent races and should now be about ready for a winning perform ance She has travelled this distance before and stepped it in fairly good time MER CUTIO is the danger in the race He was started here twice and in each race was home the winner The longer distance of a mile and an eighth should not prove too much for him either If he races as he did in his two last starts he will prove a tough cus ¬ tomer ARRAGOSA has shown none of his form that he had at Akron and Huntington While racing over those courses he hung up four straight victories and were he to race in the same style today should not have much trouble landing in the monev One Best Bet JOHNNY JEWELL in Sixth Race
