MudRunners Runners First Opportunity at atAkSarBen AkSarBen Field OMAHA Neb June 10 A heavy rain fell in this vicinity early this morning and as a result the races at AkSarBen field were run over a slow track for the first time at the present meeting Mud runners were in their element and those favoring that sort of going accounted for the majority of the contests The sun came out shortly before race time and the heat during the afternoon was almost unbearable A fine crowd was in attendance attendanceThe The feature race of the day was named the SchumannHeink Purse and was won in hand fashion by Dr I arrabee the favorite He was never far from the pacemaker and chatching Red Head in the stretch had enough left to stall off Mclachrino The latter finished second while Coquina was third thirdJames James B Brown was in his glory in the heavy going and easily took the third race He caught Malthus after going a quarter and drew away into a long lead which he held to the end Times Up finished second eight lengths in advance of Hence Big Sapp came in for quite a heavy play but did not fancy the going and at no time was he dangerous dangerousMarcella Marcella Boy came from behind to take the fourth race He was outrun to the stretch but caught the others tiring when he made his challenge and taking command had a good advantage at the end Forty Two was second and Josie M third thirdAssault Assault won the twoyearold dash which opened the days proceedings The winner carried the colors of C B Irwin to his first victory of the meeting He took command at once and was never in danger of losing the leadership Lenore Elander was a fast Koing second and Argali third Lou Mack the second choice raced to the outside fence approaching the stretch turn and ruined whatever chance he may have had of over ¬ taking the winner winnerSenator Senator Crow a recent arrival from tho bushes surprised the talent by winning the second race and paying 5I2SO He beat the favored Matinee Idol by a half length over ¬ taking the latter in the stretch to turn U trick Servitor was third
