NO FAIRMOUNT EXTENSION Meeting to End July 5 as Scheduled — Management Against Prolonged Racing. COLLIXSVILI.K, 111., June 28.— There will be no extension of the Fairmount Jockey Clubs present meeting according to a statement given to the press this afternoon. For several days the-re has been rumors e f a possible extension of the present successful meeting beyond the anne unced closing date, July B. When eiuestioned about it, General manager C. Bruce Head of the Fairmount Jockey Club, maeie it plain there would be no extension anel voie-ed also a sentiment against prolongeel me-etings. He said "horsemen and racing patrons have mad.- numerous requests that the spring meeting be- extended beyeinel our announced e-losing elay, July ■ . While we sincerely appreciate the motives that prompt these requests, we fail to see our way clear to grant the request. The Fairmount Joe-key Club and associate ceiurses have a defined policy of not racing beyond announced periods and nfe strongly opposed to protracted lw»gttiy meetings. The Fairmount Jockey Clubs spring meeting and one of similar length or possible less in the fall should be satisfying and serve the best interests of racing and the immunity. • We appreciate the motives that prompted the request for an extension of the sport at Fairmount, for it indicates that our efforts to provide high class racing has met with full approval of our patrons. It will serve as an added incentive to spur us on to reach out for the best that can be secured te furnish patrons opportunity te witness the racing stars of the country in eontests at Fair-mount Park, We will especially aim to bring about a meeting eluring the fall period of racing some of the more notable stars of this country in special events, contests that will rival the spectacular duel staged by Haste and Bagenbaggage in the inaugural running of the Fairmnunt Darby. " »ur fall meeting dates will be announeed later and the duration of the meeting will not exceed thirty days, in ae-cordance with our announced plans against continuous racing. •The Fairmount Jockey Club management takes pleasure in thanking all who had a part in making the present me-eting the huge success it has been."
