MELMOR was closest up all the way. but could never reach the leader and was doing his best at the end to withstand the rush of Of ADBIIJ.E. The latter was shuffled hack to last place after beginning quickly, but finished with a rush. SIIIBAZ showed speed, but tired sightly in the stretch. TO.NEY DIXON and CBIMDPS raced disappointingly. CHEOPS was rushed into the lead shortly after the start, showed the most speed throughout and, withstanding repeated challenges from PRINCE OF BOCRBON. was going away at the end. The latter showed fine s| eed. but was taken back when leaving the back stretch, then made a game rush through the stretch, swerved out and tired. His rider lodged a claim of foul agoinst the winner but it was disallowed. FRII.EITE came through on the inside and saved much ground on the last turn, hut was tiring at the finish. GIANT was crowded back when leaving the back stretch, but finished fast thriuiih the final eighth. FLORIAN retired after going a half mile. MERCEDES E.. away poorly, closed a big gap under weak riding WAR GRAIL had no mishaps. UCERN NAVARRE liegan poorly and closed up gruond in the first half mile, but tired. SCAT, always prominent, was taken back after going a half mile, then responded gamely when called on and might have won but for being forced out by the winner through the stretch.
