AURORA SEA OF MUD Continued from first page Fire came fast in the final eighth having gained steadily in the stretch and got up in the final strides to down The Roll Call for third place Support in this race was given over largely to Billy Witt with an extensive following for Open Fire The winner was third choice in the betting Open Hand and Burnt the other two starters were far back throughout and were never prominent Aldrich and Winans broke into the winning column for the first time at the meeting when Panorel given a good ride by jockey De Prema was returned victor in the sixth race at a mile and seventy yards Panorel raced in advance of the others for the entire dis ¬ tance and at one stage appeared to be in a moved into a sixlength lead entering the stretch However Panorel then began tiring and had to be shaken up considerably to hold Shindy safe The latter raced into second place easily outfinishing Rib Grass for that place Panorel was backed heavily and was the second favorite of the afternoon to suc ¬ ceed ceedAnother Another bad spill occurred in the final race A field of twelve started and as they were rounding the first turn Mighty was racing in close quarters and suddenly stumbled and fell He slid in the mire and in so doing fell against and beneath Diagram causing the latter to take a bad fall also Jockeys Hainsworth and Allen were con ¬ siderably battered and buffeted around but probably the soft track averted serious in ¬ jury Both lads were promptly taken in hand by the track physicians and later re ¬ turned to the stand on foot under assistance and appeared none the worse for their ex ¬ perience excepting a severe shaking up Hainsworth was injured and cut about the face faceL L M Holmes Eager was the winner with Levoy second and Tipling third
