THISTLE DOWN PARK READY Cancellation of Meeting at Maple MapleHeights Heights Park May Result in inAdvancing Advancing Opening Date AKRON Ohio May 24 Horsemen were officially advised here today that the open ¬ ing of the meeting scheduled for Saturday next at Maple Heights Park Cleveland has been postponed J H McMillen general manager and prin ¬ ciple owner of Thistle Down Park at Cleve ¬ land was a visitor here today He an ¬ nounced that extreme pressure was being brought to bear on him to open Thistle Down Park for a short meeting to begin on Monday next Decoration Day DayIt It is possible that we may open but if we do there will be no mutuel or certificate form of betting permitted on our grounds Mr McMillen announced and a definite de ¬ cision will be announced tomorrow tomorrowEverything Everything is in readiness for the opening of the course as it was planned to follow the intended meeting at Maple Heights with one at Thistle Down In the event the gates are opened Monday it is presumed that any wagering which may take place on the grounds will be of the oral nature
