Brown Prince IT Colt Mild Swr prise at Belmont Park Takes San Briar Handicap From Premier aad High Star With Son of John Among the Unplaced NEW YORK N T June 3 Brown Bud brown threeyearold colt by Brown Prince II June Rose which races for Frederick Johnson and which was starred principally in sprint races was an easy winner of the Sun Briar Handicap at one mile which was offered as the best attrac tion at Belmont Park this afternoon He defeated a well matched field There was some disappointment when Frilette was withdrawn This miss is an intended starter in the Coaching Club American Oaks to bo run next Wednesday The Aknusti Stables Premier which raced unplaced in the Toronto Cup finished in second place while High Star from the Los Cabin Stud was third thirdEight Eight started in the race with Jefferson Livingstons Son of John most in demand Little time was lost at the barrier and the field left in good alignment St Genavieve was the quickest to get in motion and showed the way pressed by Brown Buu and Amber jack with Son of John in fourth place and Young Prince in the rear SL Genevieve was under pressure to maintain her advan ¬ tage nearing the halfmile post but from the on tired and gave way to Brown Bud Son of John and Amberjack were racing along lapped and High Star was well up but under restraint Premier was further back but running steadily steadilyAround Around the turn there was a general clos ¬ ing up with the leaders racing heads apart Brown Bud forced his way through when called upon and turning for home had a brief advantage High Star responded to punishment and moved into second place when the Livingston starter and Amberjack began to falter Premier iri the meantime was ridden wide and came to the middle of the track Brown Bud was holding on courageously and at the end had something to spare over Premier The latter disposed of Hjsh Star in the final drive Young Prince closed consider able ground over the tired horses and finished fourth Warm jWarm weather brought an increase in the j crowd and the track was fast fastTHRILLING THRILLING FINISH FINISHA A nose finish resulted from the running of the first race with ithe winner undecided until the official placing was displayed The award was given to Bud Fishers John J Williams over Gifford A Cochrans Circlet while Air Service from the Hamilton Farm Stable was third The start was a good onc and Kelsay quickly found liis way to the front with Circlet Horvath went along after him with John J Williams but was quickly outrun by Air Service and Giant The others were closely grouped Rounding the stretch turn Circlet hugged the inner rail forcing John J Williams to come up on the outside Kelsay roused Circlet sharply in the stretch run and she drew away John J Williams however was not through and closed gamely under pressure to draw on even terms in the final twenty feet and to outgame her at the end Air Service finished a good third after saving ground throughout throughoutFlambino Flambino the threeyearold daughter of Wrack Flambctte which races for the Belair Stud showed a return to her Jamaica form when she was winner of the Lamplighter Purse at one mile and oneeighth Her score came over Flippant from the Sage Stable and the Carlton Stables Ruskiri Stevens had the mount on Flambino and he cleverly restrained her oft the early pace which was established by Byrd Ruskinwas slow at the start but was rushed into contention and on the heels of Byrd in less than an eighth after the start startByrd Byrd displayed high speed from the start and drew away with case into a safe lead Flambino was racing along in second place and Feu Fqllct from the J E Widener stable was last Ruskin moved into second place when Stevens took Flambino back for a breather Byrd was racing along smoothly but when straightened out in the stretch began to tire and dropped back fast Flip ¬ pant in the meantime was gaining steadily on the inside and moved up fast However he was not good enough to stand off the rush of the winner Ruskin was an easy third thirdKASY KASY FOII 3IOHDINK 3IOHDINKMordine Mordine racing for Benjamin Block and ridden by G FiIds proved an easy winner of the second race which was under allow ¬ ances and fashioned for twoyearolds Mor ¬ dine showed the way to Rosinante from the Greentrce Stable and H T Archibalds Ho gans Alley The winner dominated the run ¬ ning from the start and easily shook off Hogans Alley when the latter moved up Mordine was the choice in the race and the victory was a popular one This race marked the New York debut of Clarence Kummer wh was sot flown by the stewards in Mary ¬ land for rough riding His suspension expired June 1 Kummer had the mount on Rosi ¬ nante from the Greentree Stable The battle for second place honors was a spirited one and it was not until the final strides that the Greentree colt disposed of the Miami star starThe The Hamilton Farms Black Patti was winner of the fifth nice of the day which brought out a big field of twoyearold fil ¬ lies at four and onehalf furlongs Her vic ¬ tory came after a drive with W M Jeffords Bateau while Celebration from the Salubria Stable was third The winner was kept close to Light Dispatch in the early running and assumed the lead at the halfmile post re ¬ taining her advantage to the end Bateau held on well to be second over Celebration The winner was ridden by Stevens and was a neglected factor factorMrs Mrs N L Byers Kathleen Crosby ridden by P Goodwin accounted for the final race of the afternoon in a driving finish from J Sterns Moboz while P J Reillys Crossword was third The winner wont to the front when ready drew into an easy lead and held Mohoz stfe Th latter a forward factor throughout was wearing the winner down
