Start good and slow. Won easily; second and third driving. PORT STAR was saved close to the stretch, where, responding gamely when called on and, easily passing SANDY HATCH, won going away. SANDY HATCH showed the most speed and set a great pace to the stretch, where he finished well after losing the lead. SHADOWY, forced back at the end of the first quarter, finished with a rush on the inside. THISTLE GOLD began tiring after going a half mile. ROYAL OMAR was forced wide on the turns. Won easily; second and third driving. WISDOM, away well, was under restraint while forcing the early pace and, passing BEAU ASPIN after reaching the stretch, was easing up in the last sixteenth. BEAU ASPIN began well, set a fast pace and saved ground on the turns, but tired when hard ridden in the stretch. OLD FELLOW closed a big gap with a fine but belated rush. WELLET raced well. EVERLASTING had no mishaps. BEAUREGARD was outrun. BEELZEBUB was forced wide on the turns. FIRE BIN ran a good race to the stretch, where he swerved to the inner fence and was eased up. The latter raced in closest pursuit, but was forced wide by STAMPDALE in the stretch and, making a game finish, was going slightly best at the end. STAMPDALE raced Into the lead early and showed fine, speed, but swerved out when entering the stretch and again when tiring in the final drive. FIRE-ON finished fast. HANDY MANDY was saved under restraint for the first mile and an eighth, then came to the outside of the leaders at the head of the stretch and. making a fast finish, drew away rapidly after taking the lead. DOLAN, fairly close up after going the first half mile, was forced back sharply when nearing the stretch turn and came with a rush in the last eighth. AVAR EAGLE raced promt nently but wide on the turns and stayed well to the end. JOCK made a fast pace and raced BUDDY BAUER into defeat after making the stretch turn, bnt tired suddenly in the last few strides. BUDDY BAUER quit badly after nearing the lead on the last turn and after be bad forced the pace from the start. ROLLED STOCKING ran out on the second turn and was badly outrun afterwards.
