STORY OF LINCOLNSHIRE Summary of Running of First Big Stake Race of Flat Racing Season in England. SPECIAL CORRESPONDENCE. LONDON, England. A description of the first big stake of the English flat racing season, the Lincolnshire Handicap, will prove of interest to American sportsmen who keep posted on racing the world over. You will recall that Dark Warrior was the winner, with Philammon and The Mohawk second and third respectively. The actual first to leave the gate was Fancy Free, on the right of her field, Philammon following her. Then, on the far side of the track, were Rhyolite and Illustration whose dark blue jacket and cerise cap some mistook for the black and red cap carried by P !ory Park. Dark Warrior was racing on the bit in the heels of the leading divitim. The Mohawk lying well up, as were Happy Ben and Chichester Cross, the last named on the far rails. He was the first beaten. Then Happy Bent went on quickly, and Dunning took his place, the latter outsider running remarkably, well, but Jugo always appeared somewhat outpaced and Rob could never catch up with his rivals. t was a fair pace that the joint pacemakers, Fancy Free and Philammon, set. but they could never get far ahead of Dark Warrier, which was galloping with short bu. exceptionally quick strides. When a trifle more than half the distance had been covered. Dark Warrior passed Fancy Free, but he did not actually get in front of Philammon till three-eighths from home, when his jockey let him have more length of rein. The Mohawk deprived Fancy Free of third place shortly afterward, but had no hope of catching up to his rivals, Dark Warrior winning easily by two lengths; three lengths be. ween second and fMrC. Fancy Free a neck away was fourth and Rhyolite the surprise of the race, a length and a half, fifth. A summary of the race follows : LINCOLNSHIRE lIAMHC.Vr. One mile straight.
