More Turfmen and Horses Arrive — Faster Train Service From and to Chicago. — • — AURORA, 111., April 23.— Officials for the twenty-nine day meeting of the Exposition Park Jockey Club, which opens here on May 1, will be on hand Wednesday to get ready for the opening. Martin Nathanson. the pre-i siding steward, will move out from Chicago on that day and later in the week will go over tardy applications for jockey and trainer licenses. In this he will be assisted by C. W. Hay, license committee member under the Illinois Turf Association. Charles F. Henry, the racing secretary, is on his way here from Toronto and will issue the condition book upon his arrival. Charles L. Trimble, a brother to general manager Clifford Trimble, got in today from his home at Princeton, 111. He will be one of the stewards. R. A. Leigh, who, with C. C. Campau and Francis P. Dunne, will judge the finishes, has been on the grounds a week. Judges Cam- pau and Dunne are on the way from Mary- land and Kentucky, respectively. Harry Morrissey also is expected from Lexington, his preliminary work having been done by Eddie Thomas, his first assistant. Jack Clifford got in over the week end. In the matter of titles Clifford is among the most important men at Aurora. One of his jobs is that of patrol judge. Another is that of association docker. Between times he will advise the stewards on matters pertaining to . the condition of thoroughbreds as they" come . into the paddock. Ike Weil, who raced The Runt with a lot of success hereabout a couple of seasons ago, . is coming from Louisville with two two-year-olds. He says they are fit and ready to run. Clyde Freeman checked in from winter j quarters on his farm at Middletown, Ind. He reported three recent filly foals on his farm. One is from the Rapid Water mare, Power. Another is from Brush All, a " daughter of , Everest. A third is from Comedy, a daughter of Trompe le Mort. All the foals are by Freemans stallion Skivesdale, a son of Whiskbroom II. — Hensa, by Hamburg. He , has six more mares on the farm, four of them in foal. G. W. Glick is on hand with Pandy, Jeb and Laska. He recently sent Pat Calhoun to J. Robertson in Maryland. A car of horses got in this morning from New Orleans. Ten or a dozen horses will compete in the Inaugural Handicap at Aurora on May 1. The race will be at a mile, for three-year- olds and over, for a purse of ,500. Nominations are due Saturday. Weights will be hung up Monday. Probably the field will come from Col. Board, Wooldridge, Pat, Jack Alexander, Grand Dad. Big Sweep, John T. D., Quib-bler. Sun Altos. Prince Til Tii. Aanconda, Arabian and Plata Real. All these are training for the race. Clifford L. Trimble, general manager of the Fxposition Park Jockey Club, today announced a speeded-up train service for the twenty-nine day race meeting, which opens on May L Burlington trains will leave the Union Station, Chicago, at 1:20, 12:40 and 12:55 Chicago daylight saving time on opening day and on all Saturdays and holidays. On other days these trains will leave at 12:20 and 12:45. The last train each day will go through without stops. The first train each day and the first two on Saturdays and holidays will take on passengers at Western Avenue and Cicero. Chicago, Aurora and Elgin trains will leave Wells Street daily at 11 :00 a. m., 12 noon. 12::;o p. m., and 1:00 p. m., with ■tops at Canal, Marshfield, Laramie and Forest Park. The Burlington lias built a train shed at the track and is putting flagmen at all crossings between Aurora and Exposition Park to cut down running time. It is planned to make the run from the Union Station, "liieago, to the race track in one hoar and five minutes.
