Brooms and Petee-Wrack, two Kentucky Derby eligibles, are named to go to the post in the Admiration Purse, at Havre de Grace on Tuesday. It will be their first effort of the season. Both colts have a large following in both the Preakness Stakes and the Derby, which means added interest to the running of this event. Brooms and Petee-Wrack were at the barrier at Pimlioo this morning and they tore through the mud as though they fancied the going. C. J. Meister transferred to Pimlico this morning the eighteen horses that James Healey, Jr., wintered at Benning. There were a couple of steeplechasers, the property of Miss Peggie Bailey in the band. One Hour, the Snob II. filly that took Princess Tina into camp in her only race here, came out of the race with a gash on one of her hind legs as a result of being kicked while at the post. C. Utz shipped to Newton Spare, Pennsyl-s vania, to be turned out, the two-year-old Herando, which pulled up sore. He has taken up the two-year-old Glorious Hour. Utz proposed to split his stable, which comprises thirteen two-year-e lds and five older horses, sending a division of them to the half milers in charge of August Hutchins. Larry OBrien, sales manager of the Mary-e land Thoroughbred Auction and Sales Company, reports many inquiries from out of town regarding the sale of the A. L. Austin horses, which will be disposed of by auction in the paddock at Havre de Grace on Thurs- day. Pretton Burch, trainer of the Nevada Stock Farm Stable, announced that his employer had decideel to reduce his band preparatory to shipping West, and that Kapitl Transit, Caravan. Virado and other youngsters in the stable would be disposed of at private sale. The entire band are quartered at the Havre de Grace track. Jack Iiempsey, aeeompanieel by J. Simpson I ean, came over from New York for the avfternooaa sport and viewed the running of the different events from the club house lawn. Dr. H. J. McCarthy announced that the useful racer Prickly Heat would be among those sold at auction in the paddock at Havre de Grace on Thursday next. F. H. Smith, in whose name the horse runs, is retiring from active participation in racing. Joseph McLennan announced that at the conclusion of the meeting here he would leave for New York on a missionary tour of the metropolitan tracks in the interests of the Thorneliffe and Blue Bonnets meetings. Mr. McLennan distributed among the horsemen the condition books of the Ontario Jockey Club meeting. Memory came out of his last race with a twisted plate and several cuts on his off hind leg. He also cut his quarter and will be on the shelf for a week or ten days. Track superintendent Ryan notified horse-, men that the steeplechase course at Pimlico would be closed tomorrow on account of the wet condition of the ground.
