In the ast eighth he began tiring and Frances Milwanl, which had untangled herself from the others, began a stern pursuit and gained with such rapidity that her backers voiced their gl-e, but right at the end. when it looked like he Denemark filly would win. Wacker Drive, the favorite, was a considerable distance back of the pair, with Lillian T. following, after having shown a dull performance. IMPROVED WEATHER. Improvement in the weather and the fast drying course helped the sport, which was witnessed by another large crowd. Close finishes were the general rule during the afternoon, but favorites wore again defeated in most races. Doctor Fred was the shortest priced winner of the day and he served as the initial part of the ccuble that the Valley Lake Stable scored during the afternoon, Rasuli completing the twin victory. Both were ridden in skillful fashion by L Mc-Dermott. Aviator just missed making it a triple for the stable. He was beaten a short margin in the sixth race by Tamina after he looked to have the race won. He had gone into the lead when approaching the stretch and came across Tamina, the only contender, and when the latter was taken up Aviator benefited and increased his lead, but Tamina, coming with a rush right at the end, would not be denied ano overhauled A viator in the final strides. Bill Seth followed in third place, but a good distance back of the pair. Trainer "Dick" Watts, who is training the racers of Mrs. E. Denemark, sent another victor to the post when Hogans Dance dashed home in advance of six other juveniles that Included Sidney Grant and Na Zdar. which finished second and third respectively. Miss Lotta was the favored one in the race, but Shropshire handled her in blundering fashion, which brought about her failure in spite of a good showing. The winner displayed good speed to race around the leaders after overcoming interference in the first quaretr and during the stretch he had the race safe. Sidney Grant came with a fine rush to overhaul Na Zdar for second place. DOCTOR lRKD MI H REST. The Vall.y Lake Stables Doctor Fred, favorite, was much the best in the second race, and was an easy winner from Vittoria, with G*-nghis Khan in third place. McDer-niott kept Doctor Fred restrained until just before beginning the stretch run, where Doctor Fred saved much ground and the last eighth fuund him drawing away from the others. Vittoria had pursued Paul Hirten-stein closely, and when the leader tired, she race unopposed in second place until the last seventy yards, where Genghis Khan came with a great spurt and just missed passing Vittoria for Second place. Ossie H., a well-backed one, showed a poor performance. The Valley Lake Stables Rasuli, a first-time starter here, made it a double for the stable when he followed Doctor Freds success in the third race. His victory was one of the spectacular variety, for he was up In the last stride to down Flack Flyer after the latter had appeared a certain winner. At that. Black Flyer should have won and his defeat came as a result of overconfidence on the part of Shropshire. Princeton, which had displayed the most early speed, landed In thiid place. With Black Barts victory in the final race, It enabled L. MeDormoU to score his third victory of the afternoon. He showed skillful riding with Black Bart, for he permitted the early pacemakers to raee themselves into exhaustion and came away from Iatuxant In the last sixteenth after a sharp drive.
