POTTER COLORS IN FRONT Genuine Victorious in Feature Eace at Fairmount Park Mississippi and Tower Grove Park Purse PurseIlcnd Ilcnd Program at Colliiisville ColliiisvilleCourse Course Track Fast COLLINSVILLE III May 15 The Missis ¬ sippi Purse over threequarters of a mile and the Tower Grove Park Purse for twoyear olds over four and a half furlongs were the main attractions of the Fairmount Park Jockey Clubs program today Cool weather with a fast track but with the prospect of good sport resulted in a large crowd making the journey to the course courseGenuine Genuine the sevenyearold son of Sir Mar ¬ tin Dependable which races for Mrs W J Potter outran Water Lad and Jar to account for the winners share of the Mississippi Purse PurseThe The first race fell to Ed McCuans Ossie H which showed decided improvement under the guidance of jockey J Shelton when he led throughout Fleeting Fire was second and Betty Browning third The winner began well and under hard riding raced into the lead Black Gal which was slow leaving the barrier was right after him with Fleeting Fire leading the others as they raced through the back stretch On the stretch turn there was a general closing up but Ossie H still maintained the lead with Fleeting Fire mol ¬ ing into second place and Betty Browning had gained third place During the final quarter this order was maintained with the winner having a scant half length over the H W Miller representative Two lengths back came Betty Browning BrowningOrestes Orestes II was the favored one but he failed to get clear in time to make his usual belated rush and under the poor riding of apprentice M E Meyers failed to share in the prize money Fleeting Fire contributed largely to the long delay at the start as he refused to line up but starter Wingfield got them off in good alignment when he released the barrier barrierTen Ten maidens went to the post in the second race and the Parkview Stables Travado was the one to win with Celtic Prince second and Mid Mint third The winner a son of Eternal and Clearing Up proved much the best after setting the pace but bolted as they entered the stretch He continued gamely however and despite the loss of ground sustained through running almost to the outer rail had no trouble holding the Missouri Stables Celtic Prince safe in the final drive Mid Mint which was rather slow getting into his stride made up ground gradually as the race progressed and was rapdly wearing the leaders down as the race ended endedJockey Jockey C Edwards had the mount on the Continued on twentieth page POTTER COLORS IN FRONT Continued from first page winner and rode him in clever fashion to get him straight after he went tp the outside fence Etonardo came in for much support but after racing in second place gave way completely in the stretch stretchFrank Frank Wright saddled the winner of the third race when Blind Hills proved best of the seven platers that started Indian Guide was second while Hula was third The win ¬ ner making his second appearance of the meeting under the riding of apprentice T Fowler was rated back of the early pace and the youngster bided his time in making up ground and it was not until they made the stretch turn that he called on his mount and the gallant little gelding responded with courage raced past Indian Guide and al ¬ though his margin was only half a length he could have won by more as Fowler eased him up during the final sixteenth Indian Guide showed the most speed from the start and set the early pace and was going fast as the horses entered the final quarter But when the winner drew up on even terms it was apparent that he was unable to with ¬ stand him himThe The Tower Grove Purse for twoyearolds over four and onehalf furlongs fell to the R C Stables Red Chili and it was the first winner of the meeting for the stable and trainer F W Forsting Master Halli gan raced to second place with Princess Peroxide leading Laura Negley for third Betting judgment was correct for the pub ¬ lic backed the winner with rare confidence and she made good but only after a stren ¬ uous duel with J G Demarests Master Hal ligan Princess Peroxide a victim of poor riding by jockey G Fowler went down to defeat when her rider failed to keep her straight entering the stretch where she suf ¬ fered a loss of ground Although she fin ¬ ished with a rush it was of no avail as the two leaders had opened up a good lead
