Malvoisine and Eider which finished first and second An upset occurred with the opening of the program when the Mount Royal Stable entry of Marine and Kopsck and Harry Payne Whitneys Crazy Coot strong favorites were outrun by tlie neglected Everytime owned by J P White WhiteThis This renewal of the Kings Plate was worth exactly 10730 to the winner and inci ¬ dentally it was the second success for the R H New silks in the last four years In earning second place Whale Oil earned 2500 Third was worth 1000 to J C Fletcher and another 500 went to the R II New establishment when Vestip got up for fourth fourthWoodbine Woodbine Park was crowded to the utmost of its capacity and it was one of the great ¬ est opening day throngs that has visited this popular course in several years All walks of life were represented amongst the many thousands that were on hand to welcome back the sport of kings kingsRyland Ryland H New well known sportsman of Hamilton Ont furnished the winner of the Kings Plate the most coveted race in the Dominion of Canada His colors were borne to victory in the seventyfirst renewal at Woodbine Park this afternoon when Aymond a son of Roselyon Ablaze proved his abil ¬ ity over the mile and an eighth test to take the measure of one of the biggest fields that has ever faced the barrier in this im ¬ portant contest contestEIGHTEEN EIGHTEEN STA11TERS STA11TERSThe The Kings Plate attracted a field of eight ¬ een and second place went to Whale Oil from the Thorncliffe Stable which was beat ¬ en by a length in a furious finish Third fell to J C Fletchers Ichitaro IchitaroIt It was an unuruly band of starters for starter Cassidy to dispatch but after thir ¬ teen minutes a good start was effected with Aymond quickest to begin Whale Oil also began in good fashion with Loves Arrow close up upAymond Aymond was able to outrun his rivals and the first turn found him leading Ichitaro with Whale Oil third and Loves Arrow in advance of Sphere of Beauty and the oth ¬ ers This order was unchanged on the back stretch Ichitaro however was pinned in on the rail and was finding difficulty in securing racing room Whale Oil was right at the throat latch of the New starter but his best efforts were not enough to make him tire tireH H Little on Aymond and J Burke were both riding furiously and it was only in the last sixteenth that Aymond was able to get more than a head away from his rival and in that last sixteenth his margin increased until a length separated the pair when they flashed past the winning line linePAXBOKUS PAXBOKUS DISAPPOINTS DISAPPOINTSPandorus Pandorus from the Seagram Stable one of three that bore the famous black and yellow was the disappointment of the race when he was unable to reach a contending position at any stage It was also a setback for the followers of this establishment when none of the trio was able to get into a forward posi ¬ tion after the first quarter mile The Trial Plate Handicap which was the introductory race of the afternoon and which attracted a field of eight starters resulted in a surprise victory for J P Wliites Every Time when he was across the winning line to lead the Mount Royal Stables Marine by three lengths while Table Talk the repre ¬ sentative of the Thorncliffe establishment was third H P Whitneys Crazy Coot attracted the most support but after three furlongs tired after racing along with Table Talk and Everytime and at the end was absolutely last lastTable Table Talk had fine speed for the first half mile and she was leading the way to Every Time which was just a trifle in ad ¬ vance of Crasy Coot with the others more or less strung out As the turn for home was made Kurtsinger sent the White gelding through on the inside of the Thorncliffe mare and taking command at the last fur ¬ long post drew away until he was safely across the winning line Marine came with fine speed to finish a fast going second with Table Talk despite bearing out lasting to save third from Friar Cliff CliffJuveniles Juveniles of Canadian parentage made their debut in the Goodwood Plate which was run as the second race and in this the Seagram Stable supplied the winner when Spherette raced to an easy victory and left no doubt of her superiority over those that opposed her Roaring Flame from the Riverdale Stable took second place five lengths behind the winner while third was the portion for J P Whites Roche DOr Gimme Girl one of the pair that raced for J C Fletcher led the others othersSpherette Spherette was away in good fashion and displacing the speedy Roaring Flame after a furlong tirew away into a safe lead at the final furlong post and thereafter drew away steadily Roaring Flame was kept under stiff pressure to save second by a length while Roche DOr despite coming wide during the stretch run had enough left to withstand Gimme Girl GirlThe The Eastland Farm Stable of C V B Cushman supplied the first and second horses in the Fraser Memorial Steeplechase Handi ¬ cap over two miles and over fifteen jumps when Malvoisine winner of the Green Spring Valley Steeplechase at Pimlico duplicated that effort to account for the prize of 5110 Eider a stablcmate landed in second place when he led the Sewickley Stables War Flier home with fourth falling to Top Notch from the locallyowned Harbor Stable StableEleven Eleven started in this particular race and only seven finiched Those to meet with mishaps were Moholi and Melita II from the Flying Horse Stable Jingle one of the pair that carried the silks of the Beverly Stable and Raspberry ran out of the course after striking a beacon at the thirteenth jump jumpMalvoisine Malvoisine had the most early speed and moving into an easy lead at once remained in that position throughout and the end of the trying test found her just three lengths in advance of her stablemate Eider which finished six lengths before AVar Flier Top Notch was five lengths further back and vett before Bally Weaver
