LUCKY DRIFT AGAIN fMikel Sons Mare Wins Her Fourth of Aurora Meeting Leads Small Field on Slow and andSlippery Slippery Track Gabbo Is IsWinner Winner in Third AURORA 111 May 23 Racing at Exposi ¬ tion Park this afternoon was conducted under adverse conditions Rain which started to fall this morning and continued in a drizzle throughout most of the afternoon rendered the track slow and many horses were with ¬ drawn from the various races The course was slippery and several of the contestants appeared to have difficulty in retaining their footing footingThe The program lacked a feature race but one of the popular victories of the day was that of Lucky Drift in the fourth race The race was at one mile and seventy yards and the daughter of Huon in winning registered her fourth victory of the meeting She defeated Finnic by half a length while My Lava was third The race drew the smallest field of the day only five facing the barrier but it was a fairly good contest and while Lucky Drift led for most of the journey she was forced to do her best near the end to hold her rivals Finnic set the pace for a quarter of a mile and after being passed by Lucky Drift dropped two lengths behind the leader The ultimate winner increased her advantage to three lengths upon reaching the stretch but in the final furlong began to tire and jockey O Cooper was forced to ride her out to hold Finnic safe saferiXAL riXAL DAYS RACING RACINGExposition Exposition Park will close its successful spring meeting with an eightrace program tomorrow and on Monday the racing scene will shift to Washington Park where many high class horses are at present stabled awaiting the bugle call callJockey Jockey Mulrooney who has gained a large following by his successful riding during the past week got his supporters off to a good start when he piloted the outsider Jack Rankins to victory in the first race The winner outran the others from the start and at no time was in serious danger Sincerely the favorite finished second and Paul Revere was third The race was over threequarters and eleven horses started startedMartha Martha Florence a Campfire filly racing in the silks of Alderman Coughlin won the second race in a driving finish from Title bale The pair of youngsters dominated the running throughout and it was only due to a hard ride by jockey Marcum that Martha Florence was able to stay in front Title Oak challenged in the stretch but jockey Mc Laughlin a light apprentice lad was not capable of competing with his follow reins man when it came to a drive and the Cough ¬ lin colorbearer scored by a half length Easter finished third The race was for three yearolds exclusively and was at six furlongs furlongsANOTHER ANOTHER POK IJOVIIf IJOVIIfC C B Irwin leading money winner at the meeting garnered another purse when the Californiabred Gabbo graduated from the maiden ranks in the third race Jockey Moran was in no small measure respon ¬ sible for the colts win He hugged the fail in the stretch while the others were racing all over the track and lasted to score by a neck from the firsttime starter Cloiwald Valedictory raced down the ex ¬ treme outside through the last quarter but was good enough to obtain third place Dick Price the favorite could not seem to get going and was badly beaten beatenThe The track was becoming slower as the rac ¬ ing progressed and Seths Ballot finding the course to his liking won the fifth race m a driving finish from Roxie Weidel The latter thanks to the alertness of Mulrooney saved many lengths on the first turn and was able to get to the front but Seths Ballot which had raced wide on the bend continued gamely and wore the Abrams mare down in the stretch to catch her in the last ten yards Torch finished in third place and was easily best of the others Jockey M Dupuy was on the winner and putup a good finish finishW W W Finn has disposed of the plater Igor to R E Bisi at private sale Robert S Shelley who will serve as entry clerk at Washington Park was among the days visitors
