IMPRESSIVE VICTORY Shasta Brooms Race Occasions Much Favorable Comment Nichelson Leads Sprinters in Fair mounts Fifth Uncle Boot Wins Fourth COLLINSVILLE 111 June 2 Although todays program at Fairmount Park was devoid of an outstanding feature consid ¬ erable interest was taken by a large Mon ¬ day crowd in the running of the fifth race by a group of pretty fair sprinters which contested at the threequarters distance It was won by Nichelson marking his second victory here in five starts Kingsport waa second and Governor Seth third thirdFavorites Favorites again were somewhat in eclipse in the earlier races but most of the winners were well supported One choice Shasta Broom won in highly impressive fashion fashionA A big field of the cheap variety of sprinters answered the call for the first race F Sco villes Queen Whims proved best and it was a good ride by apprentice G Cimerak that proved the factor in the final decision The Major raced well to get second place from Fallen Leaf the favorite which finished third thirdThe The winner was a mild surprise despite her good performance prior to the running of this race Fallen Leaf and Marguerite Parker alternated in setting the early pace while the victor followed some distance back When they turned for home Cimerak took her to the outside of the leaders and one by one she passed them until she was on even terms with Fallen Leaf and easily sped past her to a half length victory victorySLEEPY SLEEPY BOY GRADUATES GRADUATESW W Covington saddled the first winner of the meeting for the Parkview Stable when Sleepy Boy graduated from the maiden ranks defeating Toltec which finished second and the heavily supported favorite The Moon which got third honors honorsToltec Toltec and The Moon had the race between them for the major part of the journey racing like a team from the start to well near the finish where their early efforts to gain the lead from one another told With their power exhausted they easily gave way to Sleepy Boy when he challenged gamely a sixteenth out Drawing away in easy fashion Sleepy Boy was home winner by three lengths Toltec and The Moon fought it out for the place with the former proving gamer of the two to get second place by a head headThe The Brown Shasta Stock Farm presented a grand looking individual in Shasta Broom which proved much the best of the juveniles that opposed him in the fiveeighths third race Molly Hogan coupled with Bilson as the B B Rice enrty was the one to finish second and Lexington Girl was third thirdThe The victory of the son of Tracer just served as a good workout for at no time was he distressed and although he was outrun to the stretch he was following the pace under restraint and when urged drew by the leaders with the utmost ease to win going away fast Molly Hogan and Bilson were the ones to cut out the early racing in first and second positions during the opening half As Bilson dropped back the winner moved up and Lexington Girl also had attained a contending position but neither was a match for the winner Sir Cho Cho and Chub were the Audley Farm entry and came in for stout support but neither figured seriously in the running after the opening quarter quarterRATHER RATHER LUCKY VICTORY VICTORYMrs Mrs A K Miller took down her first purse of the meeting when Uncle Boot carried her colors to an easy victory iii the mile and onesixteenth fourth race E E Majors Marcella Agnes raced to second place and W M Cains Pebbles Last garnered third honors honorsA A faulty ride by A Pendergrass astride the favorite Alma Vita was a contributing factor in the triumph of the Miller represen ¬ tative as he let the Meyer Keulk filly drop far out of contention after racing extremely wide rounding the first turn and his efforts after that were so feeble that the exhibition came in for some caustic criticism from many that backed her herApprentice Apprentice Hanford had the mount on the winner which won by two lengths while Marcella Agnes was under severe punishment o mair tain her placing by a half length Pebbles Last raced fonvardly throughout easily outstaying Uncle Parks for the show showW W M Cain claimed Governor Seth out of1 1 the fifth race for 2500
