of Upset and St Theresa offered further evidence of his greatness when under an impost of 126 pounds which forced him to make enormous concessions to his opponents he easily tri ¬ umphed in the Southmoor Hotel Handicap the principal race of an excellent Tuesday program at AVashington Park The brilliant chestnut which in this his fifth year and fourth campaign may attain greater heights than in previous years each marked by nota ble accomplishments ran within fourfifths of a second of the track record of 141 for the one mile and seventy yards held by Canaan his stable companion companionThis This smashing performance permitted him t win easily by one and onehalf lengths from the Rancocas Stables Leucite while Morsun carried the Lewis Kemp colors into third place Islam Martiniaue and Ironsides completed the field fieldMisstep Misstep largely on the strength of his well remembered and impressively attained victory in the Washington Park Handicap on the opening day of the meeting commanded al ¬ most undivided support of another above the average crowd and his numerous backers came in for the small return of 23 to 100 the minimum odds for the current local meeting making his way to the front Misstep passed Martinique Mor ¬ sun and Leucite on the outside and when clear went to the inside to finish As he moved up Martinique was first to give way ahdMorsun which Farms fast son of In Memorium which was expected to prove a contender followed well back throughout He began poorly and in his greenness bore out badly on the turn and was eliminated before the stretch was reached reachedDon Don Alvaro exhibited too much speed for his opponents at every stage and as he sped along in the lead Hyman and Norias hooked up in a keen tussle for second place which
