COOTS DEFEATS GOOD FIELD Leads Bocaratone by Half Length in Fairmount Park Fourth Another Large Ladies Pay Crowd Takes In InCollinsvlllc Collinsvlllc Races and Players of ofParodies Parodies Are Rewarded COLLINSVILLE 111 June 3 Harry S Hart saddled another winner when Coots from the stable of George Collins scored a well earned victory over Mrs VV J Pot ¬ ters Bocaratone in the threequarters fourth race which witnessed the best array of horses on Tuesdays program in action and resulted in a bitter contest lietween the first two Only half a length separated them as they raced by the judges The Blue Star Stable furnished the third horse in Essie EssieThe The winner under Harold Thomas who rode one of his best races was rushed to the lead soon after the start with Essie in close attendance as they completed the opening quarter Poppyfield was leading the balance while Bocaratone which had begun rather slowly was gaining while moving up on the outside Coots still had a length lead at the head of the stretch with Essie and Bocaratone maintaining their positions At the end Coots was as straight as a string to withstand a bold rush by the Potter color bearer Essie gave way right at the end but held the others safe for the show por ¬ tion of the purse purseIt It was ladies day and a goodly crowd was on hand The weather was hot with a strong sun shining from a clear track The footing was at its best and good rac ¬ ing was the order of the day dayLe Le Flore a son of Sir Barton and under the colors of P O Anderson made a showof his opponents when he won the first racein hollow fashion E 1C Brysons Joe Engel was second with O C Reamys Son Ami third thirdThe The Audley Farm Stable furnished the winner of the fiveeighths second race when Ann Clay scored her second victory of the meeting defeating ten others of her age The R C Stables Night FJash got second place with Broad A third thirdCountry Country Belle a likely looking filly from the Meadowbrook Stable came in for smart support and gave evidence of racing to ex ¬ pectations when she took command soon after the start and attained a threelength lead as they rounded the turn but Ann Clay was gaining rapidly on the outside and as they straightened for the run home she had moved to even terms Continuing with good speed she soon wrested the lead and drew away to win with ease Night Flash which raced far out of contention during the early stages made up ground rapidly and finish ¬ ing with a belated rush sped by the fal ¬ tering Country Belle as the latter gave way badly to finish fourth Bill Orange which forced the early pace also quit quitA A brilliant ride by apprentice G Cimerak and an improved race by Hayess Choice were the principal factors in the victory of Mrs W J Potters representative in the third race This brought together eight useful distance platers at one mile and one eighth Charlie Irbys Billy gave the winner a stub ¬ born battle and went down to defeat by the short margin of a nose in the most thrilling finish witnessed since the current meeting got under way Ocean Current under colors of C Wright was the one to get third money
