CLICKS AUSPICIOUS RETURN Wins Outstanding Race at Jefferson Park in Fast Time. 4- Gallops Fastest Three-Quarters of Present Shrewsbury Meeting Marcelet Best in Second Race. NEW ORLEANS, La., Jan. 22 Click, the Carleton Stables veteran sprinter made an auspicious return to competition when in his first start since the Maryland fall season, he accounted for the Western Fruit Jobbers of America Purse, the race on todays program at Jefferson Park. Running the distance over a fast track in 1:12, which set a new mark for the current meeting, Click won by a half length from Fiddler. Two and one-half lengths farther back Mine Sweeper saved third from Bar Hunter, Who Win and Nyack, the latter suffering a mild hemorrhage during the race. Although Fiddler went to the post favorite, there was strong support for the winner, and his victory rewarded many in the average crowd that braved threatening weather to witness the off-day sport. From a fast start Click soon warned of the probability of his capturing the honors. Before going a quarter he was four lengths in the van of Fiddler, and on the turn, where J. Hernandez brought him to the inside, he increased his advantage to five lengths. On the stretch turn Fiddler was second by a clear margin over Mine Sweeper, while Nyack, victim of a hemorrhage, was dropping back rapidly. In the last quarter Fiddler outsprinted the winner, but under strong pressure Click kept going long enough to save the race. Click met Fiddler at equal weight of 114 pounds, and the race marked his first performance as a six-year-old. He is an un-sexed son of High Time and Photo. B. Motts Analyst, ridden by L. Wilson, was returned a decisive winner over eleven others from among the cheaper three-year-olds in the first race. His success was in the nature of a mild surprise, and those who backed him received odds of slightly better than ten to one. In a nose finish for second place Beggar Lady had the advantage over Chilhoma, which tired after leading in the large field to the last of the six furlongs. Motive, sharing favoritism with Red Shadow, was fourth, while the latter was far back of the leaders throughout. The second race, also at six furlongs and given over to three-year-olds, closed in an interesting finish in which O. Viaus Marcelet was winner. She got up to defeat Ruth Continued on thirteenth page. CLICKS AUSPICIOUS RETURN! Continued from first page. M., a fielder, by a head, and Iskum, strong 1 second choice to the winner, was third, a 1 length and one-half back. 1 Ruth M., ridden by EL Tinker, , took up the pacemaking immediately after the start and raced along well in the van of Tenny-wood and Iskum to the stretch, where the latter came on gamely as Tennywood tired. While Iskum was unable to get to Ruth M., the belated rush of the winner brought her up rapidly in the final eighth, and J. Bat-tista got her up when within a few strides of the finish.
