STAMBUL, away forwardly and quickest to get going, drew clear in the first eighth and held sway thereafter under mild pressure. HILDUR ROCK began slowly, gained rapidly on the inside and shook off WOCO in the stretch. The latter, prominent in the early stages, tired in the last eighth under punishment. TOY TOWN, hard urged, raced evenly. GOLDEN PRINCESS showed early speed, but lost ground on the stretch turn. SUPER PURCHASE, forced to face extremely wide, lost much ground on the turn and was not persevered with when beaten. The last three horses at the start, began very slowly and had no chance. WHILEAWAY, racing forwardly but wide in the early stages, finished gamely under weak handling in the last eighth and, wearing down the leaders, won going away. EVEN UP, slow to get going, gained rapidly on the turn and raced PATRICK CALLAHAN into defeat, took a short lead in the stretch, then tired in the final drive. ESTIN, away slowly, saved ground, improved his position and would have been second in another stride. PATRICK CALLAHAN showed good early speed, then tired. MARABOU was racing resolutely at the end and would have been a keen factor had not one of Montgomerys stirrup leathers broken in the closing sixteenth. PARNELL BOUND, away forwardly and hard urged, drew cjear going out of the chute, was taken off the rail on the turn and, steadily increasing his speed to the final sixteenth, was taken under restraint. BROOKSIE, slow to get going, worked her way up on the inside under vigorous pressure and wore down HARRY HIEOVER in the last stride. The latter gained rapidly on the outside in the first half mile, then held on well under punishment. JILLION, prominent all the way, tired in the stretch. FOREIGN PLAY tired in the final quarter. BACCIOCCO began fast and, showing good speed, shook off CLICK in the early stages and, opening up a commanding lead entering the stretch, won in hand. CLICK, a factor throughout, held on gamely under a strong hand ride, held FAIR JACK safe. The latter began from an outer position and, away well, raced under extreme pressure throughout, but was unable to improve his position. BLACK WATCH had no excuses and raced evenly. SUN SHADOW, lightly restrained for half a mile, moved up resolutely on the outside when called upon, but was carried out by PLEASE on the last turn and tired in the closing eighth. TEA CRACKER began tardilv and closed a big gap. MONTANARO and COADY had no mishaps. MUFF had a rough race. BATTLING- ON and BOSAFABO quit badly after going three-quarters. SINGLE KAY moved up resolutely leaving the back stretch, but could not overhaul the leaders. WINNIE C. and JUNGLE BOY,; away poorlv, closed a big gap. AFRIDI tired.
