EASY FOR KING CHEROKEE Favorite Caught in Jam in Sportsmans Park Feature and Practically Eliminated. CICERO, 111., May 9.— The Evanston Purse featured the program for the seventh day of racing and this resulted in an easy victory for F. Perrys King Cherokee. Harry Hieover, neglected in the wagering, raced to second place and Orkin finished third. Starter Brown had his troubles with a band of bad post actors, of which Harry Hieover and Bad Axe were the chief offenders. Hypoluxo was installed the favorite, but was caught in a jam at the start and practically eliminated. Intermittent showers which fell during the afternoon served to dull the course, and the racing was conducted over a slow track. The attendance was up to proportions. I Ten juveniles started in the opening race, j which resulted in a driving finish in which ; Billy Buford outgamed Pictorial. Chicaloo, the favorite finished third . The colors of J, J. Coughlin, Chicago sportsman, were carried to their first victory of the meeting when Oh Yeah came from behind to win the fourth race. Shasta Charm, an outsider, was second and the • favored Kukui led home By Product and j six others for the third portion of the purse. Noon Play vindicated the judgment of the form players when he won the second race in handy fashion from More Space, an-| other that came in for stout support. Mad Mullah, an outsider, finished third. This was the first winner for jockey M. Gleason, who is making a come-back after nearly a years absence, having been inactive as the result of a bad fall. The lad displayed good form bringing home Mrs. B. Mocks repre-1 sentative.
