HEAP GOOD, forwardly placed from the start, challenged gamely in the stretch, but was not good enough. HOLLANDAISE began fast, lacked speed to keep up, saved ground on the stretch turn and overhauled ROMPRIDGE in the final thirty yards. BROAD LIGHTS, alert at the post, was sent to the front at once, opened up a good lead and, kept under a hand ride through the stretch, held NEW SUN safe. The latter moved up on the outside and closed gamely in the final eighth. LADY CHASE, away slowly, raced into contention on the inside, but was unable to improve his position. TOKI showed good speed, but was much used in racing with PADDOCK. ALLANAH saved ground entering the stretch and finished gamely. PADDOCK showed good early speed. SHIVA closed resolutely on the outside. POLITEN was racing strongly at the end. WACKET was never a serious factor. DONNY JOHNNY lost ground on the stretch turn and tired. FAIR JACK showed good speed, but tired under urging. IMA QUEEN was never a factor. COG-AIR was always far back. PAR EXCELLENCE was unable to reach the leaders. DUCHESS OF YORK closed a gap through the stretch. CHIVALROUS raced well for three-quarters. COLLARVIC-TORIA showed carlv speed. FAIR AVIS moved up steadily and closed with a rush and would probably have won in another stride. REDIVIVUS raced closed up from the start. CELERITAS was forced to take up sharply on the far turn. FLYING ZENO bore out badlv on the first turn, earning TRICKY COLONEL out with him. PARSNIP finished resolutely.
