The latter was a factor throughout, saved ground in the stretch and might have won in a few more strides. BIANOZ outbroke the others and took a eood early lead, but was unable to remain in front. SID LEA raced well and was eoine eamely at the finish. MANITOBIAN showed early speed. DlPEE was outrun all the wav. FASTIDIOUS began slowlv. Scratched— 714002Mt. SIR SATIN was in close quarters on the far turn. WORTHINGTON was going gamely at the end. STUART tired in the stretch. DELYEN was slow to get going and was never a factor. LYDIA ANN showed early speed. MODERATION needed the race. NITUMA, always close to the pace, overtook POLYPHOTE in the stretch and, racing resolutely to the end, outlasted the latter in a driving finish. POLYPHOTE began quickly from an inside position and, after opening up a good lead, raced gamely to the end, but could not withstand the challenge of the winner. GOOD SCOUT could not keep up early, but saved ground in the stretch and finished well. SPARTAN LADY raced evenly. SUE TERRY showed early speed. GALLANT LADY and BOURBON QUEEN were outrun. BAR HUNTER, rated close to the pacemaker in the early stages, wore down WAR SAINT in the stretch and, finishing gamely, outlasted the latter in a driving finish. WAR SAINT took the lead early and held on gamely after showing good speed in pacemaking. UNCOMMON GOLD raced well and finished gamely. IMPISH was forced wide on the stretch turn. LOW GEAR was badly outrun early, moved up near the stretch, but swerved thereafter and might have been closer up under more energetic handling.
