TEA TAX began slowly, lost ground, but closed well. SWINHAVEN was in close quarters on the turn, but closed a big gap in- the stretch. BICHLORIDE tired. CURLY HEAD, shuffled back, could not improve his position. SINGLE STRIPE quit. LUGEN LUGGAGE bore out on the turn. EATEMUP was moving up when he stumbled and lost his rider on the stretch turn. The latter showed good speed from the start and was wearing down the winner at the end. MOMO improved her position and overtook AT TOP. The latter saved much ground. PLUM ORCHARD closed a gap. LITTLE CONNELLY raced wide. HELEN BAB began slowly. OLIVE SABATH showed early speed. SUNDOT, much used racing with PANCHO LOPEZ, tired after taking the lead entering the final eighth. PANCHO LOPEZ saved ground, but quit badly. DR. FREELAND could not improve his position. GALLANT SIR reached second position on the inside after leaving the chute, was restrained until reaching the stretch, where he continued resolutely under strong riding. CHARLEIGH was slightly forced back at the far turn and on the inside thereafter, moved up entering the stretch and went evenly under strong pressure in the final three-sixteenths. WHIPPER CRACKER, a strong factor from the start, moved up gamely entering the stretch, suffered through the winners swerving and weakened in the final eighth, but outstayed LA FERIA. The latter brought up with a rush on the inside on the lower turn, was forced back in the stretch and closed fast after coming to the outside near the end. WHITE LEGS closed fast. DEEMSTER had speed and was weakly handled. ZIDA had to race wide and-weakened in the stretch.
