, ; , PLATERS DAY AT AQUEDUCT Moralist Compelled to Overcome Interference to Win Fifth. Cock Robin Defeats Rivals Over One Mile and a Sixteenth Gloria Maris Best in the Third. NEW YORK, N. Y., Sept. 30. Cheap ones furnished the entertainment at Aqueduct today, the card being made up of five races under claiming conditions and a dash for juvenile maidens at the end of the card. But some good contests occurred, even though the fields were lacking in class and a crowd of fairly good proportions was well entertained. The fifth was a six furlong dash for two-year-olds and William Gallaghers Moralist, under a hustling ride by Coltiletti, scored over J. P. Whites Satin Shoes, while Robert L. Gerrys Long Chance was a fast closing third to take that part of the purse from Vested Power. Moralist had to be best to win, for he was off none too well and compelled to race around the leaders to come into the contention. The best race of the day was the mile for platers run as the second event. It saw Mrs. A. Carfanos General A. the winner and it was the third successive victory for the son of General Thatcher. Under a well-judged ride by Robertson, he ran down Paul B. Codds Tetrarchal and J. H. Louchheims Al Neiman to win going away, with the others following him over the line in the order named. The start was a good one, and Tetrarchal at once moved into the command with Al Neiman chasing after him, and General A. third. When Robertson had his mount in full stride he took hold of his head and rated along well within striking distance. Then when the stretch was reached Reynolds called on Al Neiman and as he closed slightly on Tetrarchal, Robertson was forced to go around the pair of them. A furlong out Robertson roused General A., and drawing away from Al Neiman, he was soon alongside Tetrarchal. The Eng-i lish horse fought along for a few strides, but he had paid some price in his pacemak-ing and General A gradually drew by to be the winner by a length. Tetrarchal had beaten Al Neiman four lengths and the others of the company had cut no figure in the running. Continued on second page. Councills Gloria Maris earned a close decision over. Breezing Thru, with James Butlers Turf God finishing third by a goodly margin over Twisted Threads. As the race was run Turf God seemed best, but through the stretch his lugging in to the rail kept him badly pocketed and right at the end, while he was going in better style than the two that beat him4 he had scant racing room 1
